SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Stampers' Sampler welcomes stamped submissions from its readers for any of the challenges, themes, templates, Different Point of View, or themeless categories. Please review our submission checklist below and direct artwork to:

Submissions
c/o The Stampers' Sampler
22992 Mill Creek, Ste B
Laguna Hills, CA 92653

Submission Checklist:

  • Each sample has artist's name, address, E-mail and phone number attached.
  • Each sample has brief instructions with stamp credits attached.
  • Please wrap delicate artwork, cards, etc. in tissue. Do not place them in bags or cellophane holders with adhesive.
  • If any sample submitted is to be returned, it must have an individual self-addressed postage-paid envelope accompanying it. Please do not send one envelope for multitude submissions. Please include a self-addressed label and postage for oversized or 3-dimensional pieces.
  • If you would like to be notified when your artwork arrives at Stampington & Company, please include a self-addressed postage-paid postcard.
  • Artwork being submitted will demonstrate rubber-stamping in some fashion to be considered for publication in The Stampers' Sampler or its specialty issues.

Regretfully, submissions not meeting TSS guidelines will not be able to be considered.

Additional Helpful Information

We encourage article queries in the form of letters or email. Please send your submissions to the address above or E-mail sameditor@stampington.com. If your idea is accepted you’ll be contacted with additional article specifications.

All artwork submitted to The Stampers' Sampler may be considered for publication in any of our magazines or special publications. This includes, but is not limited to: Take Ten, Catch Up, Somerset Studio, Gallery, Legacy, Art Doll Quarterly, Belle Armoire, or Salon.

All published and unpublished submissions that do not have return postage will be donated. Charities that have received card donations from Stampington & Company include: We Care Cards, Positive Impressions, Keiki Cards and Stamp Art for the Cure (Susan G. Komen Foundation). If you know a special organization that would like to receive this artwork please drop us a line at sameditor@stampington.com with the name of the charity, phone number, e-mail address, and a contact name if possible.

Due to the unusual production of The Stampers' Sampler we may hold artwork for an unspecified time until it can be published. We gratefully acknowledge your patience while we assemble and create the pages of this unique publication.

If you are published in a bi-monthly issue you will receive notification via postcard. This voucher entitles you to a complimentary issue or you may extend your subscription by an issue. If you have been published in Take Ten or the annual Catch Up issue you will receive a complimentary copy as the magazine is released on newsstands.

Not sure how you should label and attach your personal information and instructions to a card submission? Take a look at this sample card submitted by one of our readers. Notice all credits and supplies are clearly listed. Her name and contact information is attached via a sticker (won't come off or be lost!), and it all fits cleanly to the back of the card. Artists following this profile will ensure proper credit for both their work and stamps. Please note that instructions that are bulky or larger than the piece of art must be removed during photography.

ON ASSIGNMENT

The Expressions department of Somerset Studio is open to all who wish to share their paper and mixed-media art and crafting projects including cards, collages, altered books and assemblages. The publisher carefully considers each and every submission.

If your artwork is selected for publication within the pages of Expressions, you will receive a voucher for a FREE issue of Somerset Studio. You may redeem the voucher for a current issue, an available back issue, or extend an existing subscription by one issue. The choice is yours!

ARTWORK SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All artwork must arrive at our offices on or before the published deadlines. We prefer submissions of original art, but we also accept professional-quality 4"x5" transparencies or color slides. No digital or color-copy submissions are accepted.

All artwork must be identified with the artist’s name, address, e-mail and phone number clearly printed on a label attached to each sample. As artwork often gets separated from instructions during our selection process, we ask that you also inscribe your name and address somewhere on each piece of art. If you desire acknowledgment of artwork receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped postcard.

If the artwork is three-dimensional, attach your identification with a removable string, or pack the sample in a plastic bag with your identification. Artwork without proper identification will not be considered for publication.

Concise yet thorough instructions must accompany each art sample. Attach individual sample instructions to each piece of artwork and include credits for all stamp images used.

ART MANAGEMENT POLICY

Sometimes, a piece of artwork submitted for one issue may be better suited for an upcoming issue. Other times, submissions are forwarded for consideration to the editors of The Stampers' Sampler or Legacy, our sister publications. For these reasons we may hold your sample for an extended period of time — nine-12 months is common. Rest assured that we will take excellent care of your artwork. In the meantime, if you move, please send a postcard or e-mail to the editor with your new address.

Due to the large volume of artwork we receive, Somerset Studio will return only those submissions accompanied by sufficient postage in the form of cash, check or money order made out to Stampington & Co. If you wish to have your artwork insured for the return journey, please include sufficient funds and indicate your preference in a postcard or letter enclosed with your submission. Please do not attach postage to packaging, and do not send loose postage stamps. Contributors from outside the US, please send postal coupons obtained from your post office or a check or money order in US funds to Stampington & Co.

Vamp Stamp News Submission Guidelines

Send your projects and instructions to:
   Vamp Stamp News
   PO Box 386
   Hanover, Md 21076-0386

  1. Send original artwork. Your overall card design should be your own. If it is closely based on someone else's work, say so - give credit where it is due!

  2. Include credits for any/all stamps used.

  3. Please tell us briefly how you created it - especially what materials you used and any special techniques involved.

  4. PRINT your full name and address on the back or attached to the project if possible (printing helps Nancy spell your name right!) If you can't attach it, then make sure to include it with the artwork.
  5. By sending stamp art to VSN you are giving permission for it to be published in VSN. You MUST let VSN know if you are sending the same artwork, report or article to another stamping publication.

  6. VSN is unable to return projects, so only send what you do not need returned. Originals usually reproduce better in print, but if project is especially unusual or precious, sending a very good quality color copy, high resolution scan (300 dpi) or a well-lit photo may work.

  7. When will It be run? I try to run stamp art as soon as possible, but it can run several months to a year or more after it is received - especially if it is seasonal or if it uses a technique I'll cover in a future issue or is for a particular challenge. Decisions on whether a particular piece will be run are usually made at the time the issue is finalized (not long before it is mailed.) Please Note: When challenge participation is especially high, some challenge artwork may be printed in a future issue(s). Include a self-addressed stamped post card if you want confirmation that project is received OR alternatively, when it will be printed. If you don't indicate which (or indicate both), I'll send it when I know the printing schedule (usually a couple weeks before the issue comes out).
